BTN’s system saves around 3,945 tonnes of CO₂ every year – simply by reducing heavy transport to and from biogas plants.
Collective collection from commercial kitchens cuts transport needs significantly, while staff benefit from fewer heavy lifts and an improved working environment.
Thanks to the high purity of BTN’s food waste, the biomass can go straight to hygienisation at the biogas plant without pre-treatment.
This ensures both environmental and economic benefits – making the process more efficient from kitchen to green energy.

This makes BTN the only certified food waste transporter in Denmark authorised to deliver directly to biogas plants without pre-treatment.
Bioenergy will play a key role in the green transition – and food waste is an important part of the solution. BTN contributes directly to this goal.
The system ensures that the food waste maintains a very high purity level, meaning the biomass can be delivered to the biogas plant without pre-treatment.
Food waste is turned into energy in a sustainable way, helping close the loop in the circular economy.
The digested biopulp is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon, making it a valuable fertiliser used in agriculture.
The energy produced is utilised for electricity, heating and even as fuel in the transport sector.
The grinder can detect and report impurities to BTN’s service team to maintain the purity of the product.
Spoons, knives and forks are the most common intruders – though potted plants, glass and plates have also made their way in – all safely and easily removed from the funnel without contaminating the biomass.
About 60% of this is methane (CH₄), which is used for energy, and 40% is carbon dioxide (CO₂).
